I always say that the people who create the manuals for Legos should be responsible for all product manuals because they are so well explained, colorful, and well-crafted. There were no issues during assembly, and I had extra pieces left over. The product arrived exactly as described, with each piece perfectly finished and free of any paint defects or fitting issues, resulting in a beautiful arrangement once assembled. This is perfect for anyone who enjoys building, loves flowers, or wants to try something new to unwind for a few hours. It also makes a great gift, which is what this turned into, and the recipient loved putting it together. The only “flaw” is that the manual is not available in Brazilian Portuguese. There are three to five languages in different sections, but none are in Portuguese, despite it being sold in the country. If the instructions weren’t illustrated and quite simple, the recipient or anyone purchasing it for themselves might struggle.

I have to say, my relationship with plants can be summarized as “survival of the fittest,” much like my laundry habits. I adore plants, but I often forget about them, and while overwatering used to be my biggest mistake, I’ve now found myself more often guilty of underwatering and other mishaps. As a result, I’ve settled on a few resilient succulents while the rest of my “plants” are plastic.
So, when Lego launched their line of flowers and plants, I was thrilled! I grabbed an ‘open-box’ Orchid kit from Amazon Warehouse, where I’ve had great luck—only one kit was missing pieces, while most just had dented boxes. As for the build, it was a blast! I appreciated that you get to construct the pot too. There’s plenty of room for customization once you see how it goes together. I even added some extra pieces to make the stamens and sepals resemble the real thing a bit more.
The plant is incredibly easy to adjust, allowing you to choose how many stems and blooms you want. I wanted more of the single-piece buds, and Lego had them available in their popular pick-a-brick section for about $5 each at the time of this review. While that may seem pricey for individual pieces—most are just a few cents unless they’re special minifig-related or larger plates—I tend to place a few orders a year to restock missing pieces or to fulfill new ideas (I definitely always need more transparent pieces!). Adding a couple of these to a larger order works well for me. It’s funny; they are currently listed as minifig heads since they share the mold with a Demogorgon minifigure—imagine making an orchid in those colors!
I’m also keen to create a pink and white orchid mantis, and the new White Rabbit kit has lots of matching pieces, so that’ll likely be my next project.
Orchids are amazing, but I never get them for myself or anyone I know because we inevitably kill them. I know they can be quite hardy, but despite my best efforts and research, I lack the green thumb. After a mishap with my spider plant taking a dive from a high shelf, I decided to spare living plants from my care.
(My cat says it jumped. He wouldn’t lie, right?)
My mom loves plants and asked me to look after her beautiful blooming orchids while she was away for a few weeks. I thought I could manage it with just a set amount of water weekly. Unfortunately, I accidentally knocked the pot off the counter, shattering it into countless pieces.
The replacement I got her somehow became irresistible to her cats, marking the first time they ever ate a plant.
The next replacement came with some odd tiny spiders, and despite a gentle insect treatment (catnip would have done the trick, but her cats would have devoured that too, so dish soap it was), the plant never thrived and ended up a sad cluster of sticks.
Now, my mom proudly displays a Lego orchid on her bathroom counter and finds it all rather amusing. Given that she also has my Christmas cactus that only blooms on Easter and cuttings from my overly ambitious Jade plant, it seems she should have expected nothing less from me.
Her grandkids often “accidentally” take it apart, and I put it back together. Her cats have knocked it off the counter during their midnight races, and I’ve repaired it each time. Even when I accidentally bump it and it smashes, I can easily fix it without any mess or guilt.
This set is truly a gift that keeps on giving. My 13-year-old nephew can rebuild it in just a couple of hours (thank goodness I kept the instructions, which are also available online). I’d say it’s suitable for ages 8+, especially for seasoned Lego builders, though a few tricky parts do require some finesse.
The techniques used for building the pot and securing the stems are quite impressive, ensuring they withstand bumps well (though falls onto tile floors? Not so much!). There are clever uses of pieces too, although I may never look at pink frogs the same way again.
I enjoyed this kit so much that I picked up one for myself along with several other large plant kits shortly after. They only require occasional dusting and retrieving of minifigs or toys when my nieces and nephews visit. From a distance of about six feet, it looks lovely—blurry but lovely—and tricks me into thinking I have a real plant. Given my goldfish-like memory, that’s less difficult than it sounds (“Oh look, a castle!”).
So far, it hasn’t succumbed to the harsh realities of the world, which I guess means my cat isn’t interested in it either—he just enjoys lounging on the instructions while I build.
(Lego customer service was fantastic when he stole some oddly shaped pieces, accepting my photos of him playing with them and mailing me replacements. They are truly wonderful people!)
Overall, this kit is fantastic, whether your decor leans towards adult sophistication or is more Lego Metropolis with Jurassic Park (and space!). It looks great and brings a smile to my face whenever I see it. It’s easy to fix and rebuild, and I haven’t noticed any loosening of the parts that hold the stems or flowers despite a few unfortunate events. I really love this set, and I hope you enjoy it just as much as I do!
